An Osteopath's Perspective: What 30 Years of Practice Taught Me About Tension and Relaxation
Éric Rosati, osteopath for 30 years and founder of Vitality Inside, shares what his practice taught him about tension, rest and the moments we give ourselves.
For thirty years, I have spent my days with my hands on the backs, necks and shoulders of the people who come to my practice in Paris. Over time, I have learned to listen to what the body expresses, often long before words do.
This article is not a scientific paper. It is the account of an osteopath who has observed thousands of people, and the reason why I one day decided to create Vitality Inside.
💡 What I have observed most over the years: tension builds up quietly, day after day, and we rarely give ourselves the time to let it go.
Five lessons from the practice
1. The body keeps track of our days
Shoulders that rise toward the ears, a jaw that clenches, shallow breathing: the body records the pace of our lives. Many people only notice their tension when someone points it out to them. Learning to recognise these signals is already a first step.
2. Rest is not just stopping
Sitting on the sofa with a phone in hand is not really a pause: attention is still busy. True rest is when the mind slows down too. That is the kind of moment I wanted to make accessible.
3. Small rituals beat big resolutions
In my practice, the people who keep a sense of wellbeing over time are rarely those who change everything at once. They are the ones who adopt one or two simple habits and keep them: a walk, a few minutes of breathing, a moment of quiet.
4. Calm is learned
Letting go is not always natural. For many of us, it takes practice. The more regularly we give ourselves calm moments, the easier it becomes to find that state again.
5. Each person is unique
Two people with the same discomfort rarely experience it the same way. That is why, at Vitality Inside, we offer consultations to guide each person toward the programme that fits their needs and habits.
“I created Vitality Inside to extend what happens in the practice: giving each person a moment to slow down, every day, at home. A pair of headphones and a few minutes are enough to make it a ritual.”
— Éric Rosati, osteopath, founder of Vitality Inside
From the practice to headphones
Vitality Inside sound programmes are frequency compositions designed to be listened to with headphones, in a quiet place. They do not replace an osteopathy session or medical care: they offer another way to give yourself a pause, between appointments and in everyday life.
If you are unsure which programme to choose, the online consultation lets us talk about your needs and point you toward the most suitable one.
